MARYSVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) – PennDOT has reopened Route 11/15 between Marysville and Interstate 81 more than a month ahead of schedule.
The roadway had been closed since May 1 for a rock slope safety improvement project. PennDOT initially expected the work would take up to three months, but the contractor is ahead of schedule and Route 11/15 reopened around 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Work on the rock slopes will continue. PennDOT spokesman Greg Penny said drivers should expect daytime lane restrictions between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and possibly nighttime lane restrictions between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The $19 million project includes rock fall walls and a wire mesh system to keep rocks from falling onto the road and vehicles.
