HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) – Four swimmers from the Hershey Aquatic Club have qualified for the U.S. Olympic team trials that start Sunday in Omaha, Nebraska.

About 1,900 swimmers will compete in the trials, but only 26 men and 26 women will qualify for the Olympics.

Vinny Tafuto will swim the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter butterfly.

“It’s an honor,” the 21-year-old said Friday. “I’m really happy. There’s a lot of people around me who made it possible.”

Greg Fastrich is coaching Tafuto and the others in the ultimate swim meet.

“Vivian Tafuto, she’s swimming 100 breast and 200 IM. Tim Mauer, he’ll be swimming 100 backstroke and 200 IM, and David Nolan, 200 free, 100 free and 100 fly and 100 IM,” Fastrich said.

Four swimmers from the York YMCA and one from the Lancaster Aquatic Club will also compete at the team trials.
