HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Penn State’s former top lawyer says in a new deposition he advised the school’s vice president in 2001 to notify a state agency of a complaint about Jerry Sandusky showering with a boy at the school.

Former university lawyer Wendell Courtney also says in the deposition that no one from Penn State ever asked him about the Feb. 11, 2001, meeting with then-vice president Gary Schultz or the research he did that day on reporting suspected child abuse.

Schultz awaits trial on charges including failure to properly report suspected abuse by Sandusky, the former assistant football coach now in prison on child sex abuse convictions. Schultz’s lawyer didn’t return messages.

Part of the new deposition, including Courtney’s statements, were attached to a filing Thursday in a related case.
