Lancaster man headed to trial for fatal beating on video

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A city man jailed for a fatal beating that was captured on video last month is headed to trial.

Dajour James, 22, was held for court after a preliminary hearing Friday.

Authorities say a witness used a cell phone to record James on May 14 as he assaulted 45-year-old Charles H. Kronenberg IV in the 500 block of Manor Street.

District Judge Adam Witkonis watched the video before his ruling. According to District Attorney Craig Stedman’s office, Kronenberg is seen sitting on a stoop when James approaches him, picks up a beer can, and strikes Kronenberg in the head. James then continues to kick and assault Kronenberg after he falls to the ground.

The two men exchanged words prior to the assault, authorities said.
