Judge: No lower bail for woman accused of ‘gifting’ teen daughter

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster County woman charged with “gifting” her 14-year-old daughter to a man accused of fathering two children with the girl will remain in jail for now.

Savilla Stoltzfus, of Quarryville, is jailed on $1 million bail after a Bucks County judge refused her lawyers’ request for a bail reduction Friday, the Associated Press reports. The judge set a July 14 bail hearing.

Stoltzfus and her husband were charged with a felony count of child endangerment after police found their daughter, now 18, among a dozen girls living with 51-year-old Lee Kaplan of Feasterville.

The girl told police she was the mother of a 3-year-old and a 6-month-old in the home.

Daniel Stoltzfus told police he and his wife gave their daughter to Kaplan after he helped the family out of “financial ruin.” Stoltzfus told investigators they did it after “researching the legality of it on the internet.”

The couple told police the other nine children in Kaplan’s home belong to them. The children have been placed in foster care.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
