Shots fired as Fairview Township couple struggled with home invaders

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. (WHTM) – Police say several shots were fired as a York County couple fought off two masked men who broke into their home.

Fairview Township police said blood was found outside the home and it’s possible one of the intruders was shot during the incident early Thursday in the Meadowbrook Trailer Park.

The victims, both in their 50s, told police they were asleep when the intruders broke into their home and assaulted them around 12:30 a.m.

The husband, who was struck on the head with a handgun, said he fought off his attacker and three shots were fired during the struggle.

He told officers the intruders fled the home when he took control of the gun. They left in an unknown vehicle on Shauffnertown Road.

The husband and wife received injuries to their heads, but they did not require immediate medical treatment from a hospital, police said.

Anyone who may have information is asked to call Fairview Township police at 717-901-5267.
