Police: Man threw hammer, attacked woman in Harrisburg

UPDATE: Harrisburg police have announced the arrest of Brandon Williams, 23, in connection with April’s hammer attack.


HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Police have identified a suspect in an assault where a man threw a hammer at a woman and knocked her to the ground.

Authorities have a warrant charging 23-year-old Brandon Williams with simple assault, police said Thursday.

The woman told police she was walking her two dogs in the 1500 block of Green Street on April 25 when a hammer flew past her. She said a man wearing gray and black camouflage clothing then ran to her, grabbed her by the neck, and threw her to the ground.

She told officers she began yelling and threw the hammer into the street. She said the man then grabbed the hammer and fled.

Anyone with information on Williams’ whereabouts is asked to call Dauphin County police dispatch at 717-558-6900.
