LOS ANGELES (AP) – Cooler, more humid weather has given at least some temporary help to crews battling dangerous wildfires in Southern California, but other blazes across the West are on the move.

Firefighters on Wednesday were able to make progress fighting two fires in the steep San Gabriel Mountains 20 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

But a shift in wind caused a forest fire near the Colorado-Wyoming line to explode in size and campers were forced to evacuate.
