HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Police are reviewing multiple cameras as they look for a suspect in a fatal beating.
Police released video of the killer Tuesday night. Most in Midtown have viewed the clip several times.
“It’s frightening. It’s very frightening,” Kerry Bacon said.
Bacon and a friend were walking along Verbeke Street around lunchtime, but he, like many, are uneasy knowing the killer is still on the loose.
“I have a permit to carry. It expired, so I’m thinking I need to renew my permit,” he said.
Karen Barbour was walking her German shepherd. She said it’s a good thing he’s protective.
“He’s a very good guard dog,” she said.
Barbour lives along Susquehanna Street where security cameras recorded the suspect around 2:15 a.m. Sunday.
“I got my dog and a gun,” she said. “I’m good.”
Police said detectives were reviewing multiple security cameras in the neighborhood, including a second camera that recorded the suspect.
Barbour wanted to know as much as possible about who to look out for and possibly identify the suspect.
“If something happened to you, you should spread the word,” she said. “Some of your other neighbors know what to look out for, you know?”
Bacon walked past a memorial to Steve Esworthy along Green Street. It is a monument layered in love of well wishes, flowers, and candles.
“It’s a shame that you can’t walk around freely in Harrisburg anymore and not worry about being mugged,” he said.
Police hope someone will recognize something about the man in the grainy surveillance video. They’re offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
Around Midtown, people are disgusted that someone would randomly attack an innocent person for pocket change.
“I mean really, get a job,” Barbour said. “You have to be out mugging people? Get a job.”
