QUARRYVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) – The investigation continues into a Lancaster County couple accused of “gifting” their 14-year-old daughter to a Bucks County man now jailed for sexually abusing her.
Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus gave their daughter to 51-year-old Lee Kaplan because he helped the family out of “financial ruin,” according to charging documents.
Last Thursday, investigators found the now-18-year-old and 11 other girls living in Kaplan’s home in Bucks County. Kaplan admitted he began having sex with the girl when she was 14 and fathered two children in the home, a 6-month-old and a 3-year-old, the complaint states.
Investigators said they’re still looking into claims the other girls are Stoltzfus children.
On Monday, when ABC27 News stopped by a home the couple rents in Quarryville, a 19-year-old man said he was another of the Stoltzfus’ children. He said two younger siblings lived in the house with him.
The couple’s son said his parents met Kaplan at an auction a few years ago and that Kaplan was a family friend. The 19-year-old did not say why some of his siblings were found in Kaplan’s home.
ABC27 also obtained a copy of a 2009 lawsuit the Stoltzfus family filed against a number of Amish organizations after they lost their metal working business. Kaplan was mentioned in the lawsuit.
All three charged remained in prison on Monday.
