Harrisburg police: Shooting victim lied about identity

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A man who was injured in a shooting early Sunday gave investigators a fake name because he was wanted, police said.

Christopher Tibbens, 25, had a warrant for flight to avoid apprehension and driving with a suspended license, police said. Officers charged him with false reports, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tibbens told investigators he was arguing with his girlfriend and went outside on the 1200 block of Hunter Street to smoke some marijuana. He said an unknown man pulled up to him, exited his vehicle, and then started fighting him for an unknown reason, police said.

Tibbens reported that as he ran from the fight, he heard two gunshots and felt something strike his left shoulder.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 717-558-6900.
