Pa SPCA Dir. of Humane Law Enforcement succumbs to cancer

PHILADELPHIA, Pa — (WHTM) The Pennsylvania SPCA said its former Director of Humane Law Enforcement, George Bengal, died after battling cancer.

Animals do not have a voice, but the SPCA said George Bengal made sure he gave them one. The former Philadelphia police officer spent the last two decades building the Humane Law Enforcement Department for the Pennsylvania SPCA. Bengal was also featured on TV shows like ‘Animal Cops’ and ‘Philadelphia Undercover’.

On May 5 of this year, Bengal announced left his post due to his battle with terminal illness. SPCA officials said Bengal died at a suburban Philadelphia hospital surrounded by his family Saturday evening. He was 69 years of age.
