FEASTERVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster County couple was arrested after authorities say they “gifted” their 14-year-old daughter to a man now jailed for sexually abusing her.
Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus, of Quarryville, were charged Thursday with a felony count of endangering the welfare of a child. Mr. Stoltzfus faces an additional felony count of conspiracy to commit statutory sexual assault.
Both are jailed in the Bucks County prison on $1 million bail, according to court records.
According to charging documents, Mr. Stoltzfus told police they gave their daughter to 51-year-old Lee Kaplan of Feasterville because Kaplan helped the family out of “financial ruin.” He told investigators they did it after “researching the legality of it on the internet.”
Police found the girl, now 18, and 11 others in Kaplan’s home. The girl told police she was the mother of a 3-year-old and a 6-month-old. She said Kaplan was the father and they were not married, according to charging documents.
Kaplan admitted he began having sex with the girl when she was 14 years old and and fathered two children, police said.
Mr. and Mrs. Stoltzfus admitted they knew Kaplan was having sex with their daughter and didn’t remove her from the home, the complaint states.
