Today is sentencing for a man accused of beating a dog.

Last year video appeared online of 28-year-old Luis Cruz-Padro Jr., dragging, punching, and apparently hitting a white pit bull with a belt. His sentencing is scheduled for today.

Verizon workers will return to work today.

Since mid-April, nearly 40,000 Verizon employees have been on strike. According to a union, they will return to work Wednesday after reaching a tentative contract agreement.

Results of the porngate investigation will not be released today.

The Pennsylvania attorney general’s office has canceled a news conference scheduled for today that was to announce preliminary results of an investigation into offensive, sometimes raunchy and sometimes pornographic material shared among judges, prosecutors and others in the criminal justice system.

The press secretary for the AG’s office will step down today.

Chuck Ardo has been press secretary for Attorney General Kathleen Kane for 13 months. He says first thing Tuesday morning he will contact the office and terminate his contract. Last night, he sat down with our Dennis Owens to explain why.

Outrage continues over the killing of an endangered gorilla.

Saturday at the Cincinnati Zoo, a 4-year-old slipped into the gorilla enclosure. Zoo officials say they shot and killed the gorilla to keep the boy safe. Online there are calls for the boy’s parents to be held accountable but Cincinnati Police say they are not filing charges.
