MARYSVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A PennDOT contractor is using a helicopter to lift mesh fencing to the rock slope along Route 11/15.
The fencing will prevent future rock falls along the stretch of roadway between Marysville and Interstate 81, which closed May 2 for three months.
The work with the helicopter on Thursday was expected to take several hours.
While road work with a helicopter is not something you see every day, and the work can be seen from Front Street and the Interstate 81 bridge, PennDOT spokeswoman Fritzi Schreffler said it’s not safe for drivers to slow down or stop to watch.
She said state and local police will help move people along.
