LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – An Ephrata man will serve up to 30 years in state prison for making secret videos of women in fitting rooms at stores in four counties.
Matthew J. Hummel, 36, was ordered to serve 15-30 years, followed by 20 years of probation, after his guilty plea to 24 counts in Lancaster County Court, according to the district attorney’s office.
Hummel was on probation for convictions of similar crimes when he was caught recording a woman in a Fruitville Pike store last year. Authorities said the woman was partially undressed when she noticed an iPod recording her. She screamed and a man in the next stall fled the store.
Investigators said witnesses and surveillance video identified Hummel as the suspect. He ultimately confessed to the crime and making other fitting room and upskirting videos at businesses in Lancaster, Berks, Cumberland and York counties.
