Harrisburg man gets life for 2014 shooting death

Johnny M. Collins (Dauphin County District Attorney's Office)

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A city man will serve life in prison for a fatal shooting over a drug debt.

Johnny M. Collins, 25, was sentenced Monday for the June 2014 killing of 21-year-old Daylynn Smith in Hall Manor.

Prosecutors said Collins was angry about being blown off over a drug debt and shot Smith in the back as he tried to flee.

A Dauphin County jury last month found Collins guilty of first-degree murder and a firearms offense.
