Man pleads guilty to fatal drug-deal shooting in Manheim Township

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster County man will serve up to 40 years in prison for a fatal shooting during a drug deal in Manheim Township.

Robert A. Peters IV, 18, of Kirkwood, pleaded guilty Thursday to third-degree murder, robbery, and gun charges in the Oct. 5 killing of 22-year-old Nicholas Vassallo, according to District Attorney Craig Stedman’s office.

Under the plea agreement, Peters will serve 15 to 40 years in state prison.

Authorities said he shot Vassallo four times at close range during a physical struggle.

They said the two men met in the 600 block of Martha Avenue for a $3,500 marijuana sale, but Vassallo had a large bag of oregano and Peters brought about $50 in “show money;” a wad of $1 bills with a $20 bill on the outside.
