DA withdraws theft charges while feds investigate cemetery owners

DOVER, Pa. (WHTM) – Charges against the owners of a York County cemetery have been withdrawn while federal authorities investigate allegations the couple failed to provide services for which they were paid.

Northern York County Regional police said Friday that the district attorney’s office withdrew charges against Arminda and Theodore Martin, owners of Suburban Memorial Gardens in Conewago Township, and the investigation has been turned over to the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the Inspector General.

The Martins, of Ravenna, Ohio, were charged in February with theft by deception and receiving stolen property after police said the couple was paid for memorial plaques and grave markers, but they never followed through with purchase or installation.
