YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – Two city men have been found guilty of first-degree murder and related charges in an October 2013 shooting.
Durell H. Cotton Jr., 20, and Elvin R. Mateo, 22, were convicted by a jury Friday of killing 21-year-old Jordan Breeland in the 100 block of West Jefferson Avenue.
Breeland was a passenger in an SUV when authorities say Cotton and Mateo pulled next to him and opened fire. He was struck in the chest and died at the scene.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 29.
Cotton is awaiting trial in the June 2015 shooting deaths of 21-year-old Angel Berrios and his brother, 19-year-old Abdiel Vazquez-Soto.
Berrios was driving an SUV that slammed into a telephone pole on North Newberry Street at Madison Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound to the chest. His brother was in the front passenger seat and died after a bullet struck him in the chest and abdomen.
