LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A man who was assaulted over the weekend in Lancaster has died in the hospital, according to police.
Dajour Ari James, 22, is wanted in connection with the incident that has now been ruled a homicide.
Police say that on Saturday evening a 45-year-old man was found unconscious in the 500 block of Manor Street. He was transported to a Lancaster General where he was treated for blunt force trauma to the head. He died on Sunday afternoon as a result of his injuries.
Investigators used a witness’ cell phone recorded video witness to identify James as a suspect.
The video allegedly shows James pick up a beer can and strike the victim on the left side of the face while holding the can, knocking the victim over onto his side. James then dragged the victim across the ground and continued to strike him, hitting the victim on the head area two to three more times.
Investigators learned that the victim was targeted by James after the verbal confrontation, and the two were involved in a verbal confrontation before the attack.
An autopsy for the victim, whose identity is being withheld, is expected to be conducted by the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
