YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – A York County man was arrested after police said he tried to break into the home of an ex-paramour and then identified himself to authorities as a Washington, D.C. police officer.

Wayne_Charles_CookWayne Charles Cook, 39, of Shiloh, is charged with criminal trespass, stalking, terroristic threats, and impersonating a public servant.

Cook on Sunday tried to get into a Manchester Township home and set off a security system, according to a news release from Northern York County Regional police.

He fled the home and was stopped by officers. During the stop, Cook identified himself as a police officer from Washington, D.C. and provided officers with a badge case and a “Special Police” badge, but Cook was found not to be an active officer with Metro D.C. police, the release states.
