Wing contest supports Hampden veterans park

MECHANICSBURG, Pa (WHTM) — Center Street Grille took home the top prize for “Best Wings in Central Pennsylvania” during a Thursday event dubbed Wing Madness in Hampden Township.

An estimated $4,500 – $5,000 raised through the event at Park Inn will assist in the construction of the new Captain Leon Lock Veterans Memorial Park, expected to begin this summer. The park will be built on a 17-acre tract of vacant land located across from the Giant food store near Valley Road and Wertzville Road, along Interstate 81.

“The mission of the Veterans’ Committee is to recognize and honor all veterans, past and present and future, that have served their country,” said Gary Coburn, head of Hampden Township’s Veteran’s Recognition Committee. “Events like this help us to reach our goal to better serve all service men and women in our township.”
