HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Teachers from the Harrisburg School District and the community will rally at 5:15 p.m. Monday before a special school board meeting.
The rally will take place at the Lincoln Administration Building at 1601 State Street in Harrisburg. Chief Recovery Officer Audrey Utley will publicly present a recovery plan to the school board after the rally.
The recovery plan may include whether a contract can be reached by the end of the school year.
Teachers are hoping to raise awareness about working without a contract for more than 1,400 days.
Harrisburg Education Association President Jody Barksdale says that has led to massive staff turnover. More than 400 teachers have left the district in the past four years. Barksdale says this is due to job uncertainty and teachers going without a pay raise for five years.
