3 teens charged after car chase in stolen car

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – Police arrested three teenagers after a brief car chase ended in a crash early Friday morning.

It happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Lincoln Highway East.

East Lampeter police attempted to pull over a green Ford Ranger pickup truck but it proceeded to get away and crashed into a pole after a short distance.

Two 17-year-old males were arrested by East Lampeter Township police.

Police said 18-year-old, Kevin Michael Avila, of West Grove, was found hiding in a nearby shed.

He is charged with felony criminal trespass and loitering and prowling at night.

Following the arrests, police determined that the pickup truck had been stolen during a burglary in Chester County.

The driver, a 17-year-old from West Chester, will be charged with a fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer in addition to other traffic violations.

The 17-year-old passenger, of Parkesburg, was charged with curfew violation,

Vehicle theft and burglary charges are expected to be filed by Pennsylvania State Police.
