SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Increased security measures have been put in place at Shippensburg University after a faculty member received a suspicious letter containing a “threat of violence” against the school.
In an email sent out to students on Friday, school officials released a statement that read in part:
Though there is no current information to verify the validity of the letter or that the threat is credible, any threat made against the university or any member of the campus community is taken seriously and is vigorously investigated. The joint investigation will continue as long as necessary until the issue is resolved.
All members of the campus community are being advised to report any suspicious activity to university police.
