TOWER CITY, Pa. (WHTM) – Decomposing animal remains found in a Schuylkill County creek are not those of nine puppies as first thought.
ABC affiliate WNEP-TV reports a pathologist in Harrisburg determined the remains are those of nine foxes.
The remains found Monday apparently were dumped from a bridge into Wiconisco Creek in Porter Township. One animal appeared to have had its skull crushed.
Officials believe the foxes were lawfully trapped and killed. While it’s no longer a case of animal cruelty, whoever trapped the foxes could face fines for illegally dumping the carcasses.
