PinnacleHealth: Sexual Assault Awareness

April is national sexual assault awareness month. Faith Mong joined us to talk about the SAFE program at PinnacleHealth, available in the PinnacleHealth Emergency Department.

“PinnacleHealth’s SAFE Program addresses one of the most serious and underreported crimes, giving survivors of sexual assault one on one care that they deserve. A specially trained forensic registered nurse, called a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, will provide you with a compassionate, comprehensive medical legal examination, tells Faith.

Knowledge is power, though, and it’s important to understand the facts and available resources so you can help a friend, child, loved one, or even yourself, if necessary.

  1. Get somewhere safe, and call a trusted friend or family member.
  2. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
