LITITZ, Pa. (WHTM) – When Rachel Beiber moved into her Laurie Lane home in Warwick Township a few weeks ago, she got a welcome to the neighborhood present she didn’t anticipate.
“It wasn’t what I was expecting,” she told ABC27 News.
Just a few houses down from hers is one of two homes searched by Lancaster County Drug Task Force members in recent raids.
Police claim 20-year-old Brendan Reese sold “high-grade” marijuana out of his home.
Investigators also raided 30-year-old Steven Steinberg’s home on Cardinal Road, less than a mile from Reese’s home. They claim he also sold high-end marijuana.
“It’s definitely a surprise, the amount we got and the high grade that it was considering it was in Lititz,” said Brett Hambright, a spokesman for the Lancaster County district attorney’s office. “When you think of Lititz, you don’t think of drug trafficking.”
Authorities believe the seizures are the biggest of their kind from the Lititz-area home in recent years. The marijuana has an estimated street value of a little more than $30,000.
Hambright told ABC 27 News that tips from neighbors helped police catch the suspected dealers.
“We don’t think they were working together,” Hambright said. “It’s alarming to us, but we also feel at the same time we’ve cut two major suppliers for this area.”
Both dealers are free on bail and are expected in court in the coming weeks.
