HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Legislation that would allow local governments to offer tax credits to volunteer firefighters is headed to the state Senate.
The state House on Monday unanimously approved House Bill 1683.
The measure would grant municipalities, county governments, and school districts the authority to offer active volunteers a credit of up to 20 percent of their tax liability.
The credit would be available to volunteers of a fire company or emergency medical service company.
The state fire commissioner would establish the annual requirements for receiving the credit.
