Lancaster man arrested for 2 store burglaries

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A city man was arrested after police said he forced his way into two businesses to steal money from the cash registers.

Sean Kemberling, 29, is accused of burglaries at the 99 Cent Center, at 53 W. King St., and Sara’s Grocery and Deli, at 259 W. King St., police said.

Police said Kemberling was recorded by a surveillance camera as he kicked the glass door at the 99 Cent Center, causing the glass to be pulled from the frame. He then opened the cash register and took a small amount of cash.

About a half-hour later, police said Kemberling shattered a window at Sara’s Grocery and Deli and left the cash register on the floor.

He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking, attempted theft by unlawful taking. He also faces a count of possession of a controlled substance for illegally having prescription pills, police said.
