HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Two men were arrested after police say they forced their way into a city apartment and beat a man and a woman who is the ex-girlfriend of one of the suspects.
Ronald Payton, 48, of Harrisburg and Kenneth Williams, 47, of Steelton, are charged with attempted homicide, burglary, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, robbery, and aggravated assault.
Officers responded to the apartment in the 2300 block of North Front Street around 9 p.m. Sunday and found the visibly injured woman with her hands tied.
Payton and Williams, the ex-boyfriend of the woman, were still in the apartment and ordered to come out. Police said after several tense minutes, the pair complied and were taken into custody without incident.
Both victims had been beaten and the male victim had been strangled to the point that he lost consciousness, police said.
Payton was jailed in Dauphin County Prison on $100,000 bail. Williams was sent to the prison on $50,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 20.
