LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – Lily, the horse found abandoned and shot with paintballs nearly 130 times, was released from New Bolton Center.
New Bolton Center said Lily is now at a recovery barn and she will be monitored closely.
Lily was found at New Holland Sales Stable on March 14 after a horse sale, but was not checked in for sale.
Kelly Smith, of Omega Horse Rescue, said some of the paintball marks were just inches from the horse’s face.
“At first, I thought, did someone paint this horse to look like an Easter egg?” Smith said. “The closer I got, I actually realized it was paintball.”
Phillip S. Price, of Rhode Island, was charged March 30 with five summary citations in connection with his handling of Lily.
