Strong Towns noted that throughout the contest, “Carlisle stood out for its diverse and supportive community, which has helped to shape this town into a truly wonderful place to live.” The site highlighted Carlisle’s commitment to safe, accessible transportation and how community organizations have improved the town through parks, gardens and events.
“It’s been a fun couple of weeks and our community definitely came together push us to the top,” said Brenda Landis of Dickinson College and Carlisle West Side Neighbors. “Carlisle is strong because of the community and this award proves that. The competition made Carlisle an even stronger town than it was before and hopefully we can harness some of the energy to get even more residents involved in pushing Carlisle forward.”
