He’s a tough quarterback to evaluate, but it was hard to deny Christian Hackenberg performed well at Penn State pro day Thursday.
After an up and down showing at the NFL combine throwing session, Hackenberg delivered consistent accurate passes, both short and deep in front of reps from 31 NFL teams. Just seven balls hit the turf during the session.
One of the top QB prospects in the country coming out of high school, the three year Penn State starter has seen his stock drop after each season. Bill O’Brien’s departure for the Texans and poor offensive line play had a lot to do with it, but Hackenberg’s 53.5 completion percentage in 2015 is hard to ignore. Thursday’s session shed light on the raw talent that made him so highly regarded to begin with.
Also performing in individual drills were defensive lineman Austin Johnson, Carl Nassib & Anthony Zettel. Full results from Penn State’s combine can be found here http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/nfl-pro-day.html
