EPHRATA, Pa. (WHTM) – Authorities say a 3-year-old Ephrata boy died after he was struck by a tractor driven by his father.
Emergency responders were called just before 4:20 p.m. Wednesday to the 400 block of Brossman Road for a report of a farm accident.
Deputy Coroner Robert Granzow pronounced Shane Zimmerman dead at the scene.
Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni says the boy’s death was a tragic accident and that he doesn’t expect any further investigation by his office.
This is the second farm death in Lancaster County this year and the third farm accident involving a child.
LNP says Lancaster County leads the state with 54 recorded farm deaths between 2000 and 2014.
