RED LION, Pa. (WHTM) – If the state government does not pass a budget soon, a York County school district could go bankrupt.
The superintendent of Red Lion schools sent a letter to parents saying bankruptcy would likely be declared by the end of the fiscal year.
The letter states in part, “our focus will be essential classroom needs, utilities and payroll. All other expenses will not be paid.”
The district says taking out a loan is not a viable option.
The state owes the district almost $10 million for the budget that was due eight months ago.
