MOUNT JOY, Pa. (WHTM) – Any day Mel Lucht is playing golf is a good day for the Lancaster resident.
When the sun was shining in early March, it’s even better.
“That’s what it’s about this time of year,” he told ABC 27 News.
Lucht was golfing at the Highlands of Donegal golf course, which was buzzing thanks to temperatures in the 60s. Matt Groff who is the course’s director of golf operations, said a burst of spring can drive anyone to the greens.
“Normally this time of year, we’ll probably see about 20 to 30 players a day,” Groff said. “With the beautiful weather, we could get as many as 100 to 120 in a day.”
Monday was the first day Rita’s Italian Ice in Mount Joy opened for the season.
Donna Gutshall, who lives in Mount Joy, was the first one to get a sweet treat.
“It (was) awesome,” she said.
Spring fever was also a blessing for J.B. Hostetter and Sons, a hardware store outside of Mount Joy.
Ken Kowalski, the store’s operations manager, told ABC 27 News that with temperatures flirting with the 70s this week, it’s a great time to think about yard work.
“We did take in a lot of mowers this here in the past few days and the last week as well,” he said. “People are starting to think their mowers are working correctly. We have a lot of people that are just excited for the warm weather.”
