LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster teen, who robbed a pair of students last year in the city, will serve up to a decade behind bars.
Judge Jeffery Wright sentenced Joan Rodriguez-Taveras, now 19, to 3-to-10 years in state prison after Rodriguez-Taveras pleaded guilty to robbery charges.
According to the district attorney’s office, Rodriguez-Taveras and Jimmy Pierre were in a city barbershop when they observed two students walking out with cash and phones. Outside the shop, Pierre robbed the two at gunpoint and Rodriguez-Taveras served as a getaway driver.
Rodriguez-Taveras told police he got a total of $6 from the robbery.
Pierre, 17, previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 5½-to-12 years in state prison.
