Starting Saturday morning, part of the Eisenhower Interchange will close so crews can work on the bridge carrying Route 322 east.
Starting at 7 a.m., the ramp from I-283 north to I-83 south will close.
Traffic will be detoured to I-83 N to Union Deposit Road (Exit 48) and then back on I-83.
The ramp should reopen by 5 a.m. Monday but crews anticipate finishing earlier than that.
During the closure, crews will remove wooden falsework built in December around one of the piers supporting the bridge carrying Route 322 east.
The wooden falsework was used to build a concrete jacket around the pier to reinforce the strength.
The work is part of a $5.6 million repair contract that began last June to address 30 bridge structures connecting to I-83 in the Harrisburg area.
The repairs are classified as “bridge preservation” and the overall project should be completed by mid-April of this year.
