LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A man facing his third DUI charge has been deemed responsible for causing a deadly crash last month in Pequea Township.
Police said Benjamin R. Manotti, 38, was three times past the legal drinking limit when he veered into oncoming traffic and struck 33-year-old Gregory Pizarro’s vehicle head-on.
Pizarro died as a result of the Jan. 16 crash on Millersville Road.
Manotti’s blood-alcohol level was .239 percent. He was also driving without a license due to a DUI suspension in 2007, police say.
DUI homicide charges were filed against Manotti after he was discharged from a local hospital Friday morning. He had been treated for injuries he suffered in the crash.
Manotti was committed to Lancaster County Prison after failing to post a $1,000 bail set by Judge William Benner.
