Woman fatally struck by school bus in York

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – A woman died at a hospital after she was struck by a school bus Wednesday morning near William Penn Senior High School.

Police said the woman was struck at the intersection of South Beaver and West Princess streets around 7:40 a.m. She was was transported to York Hospital where she died from her injuries.

The York County Coroner identified the victim as 70-year-old Evelyn Miller, of York.

The coroner said Miller’s cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma and the manner is accidental.

The bus driver and four non-public school students were en route to St. Patrick’s School and Logos Academy.

Dr. Rita Becker, assistant superintendent of the Eastern York School District, in a statement said the driver and students on Red Lion Bus 27 were not injured and they arrived to school safely.

The accident is under investigation.
