YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – Authorities say a York County couple was high on drugs when their 1-week-old infant was transported to the hospital after suffering a seizure.
Lauren A. Kritzberger, 25, and Christopher R. Snoots, 25 confessed to using marijuana and Ecstacy but claimed the child was not in the same room when it happened.
Kritzberger called police on Sunday after she was concerned for the infant’s health.
Officers found the apartment on W. King Street in complete disarray said it smelled of marijuana.
Marijuana inside a grinder was found in the kitchen as well as a metal spoon with white powdery residue.
Kritzberger told police the items were hers and the white powdery substance was Ecstacy.
Snoots told police that he and Kritzberger agreed to purchase the drug “Molly” as a way to celebrate the birth of their baby.
At York Hospital, Kritzberger admitted to having substance abuse problems. She also said she took Adderal while pregnant and even attempted to breastfeed her child.
The infant is currently being treated at the Neonatal Intensive-Care Unit (NICU) at York Hospital. Doctors are unsure of the cause of the seizure.
Both Kritzberger and Snoots are behind bars on endangering the welfare of a child and illegal drug possession charges. Bail has been set at $50,000.
