Doctor accused of groping Chambersburg Hospital employee

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A Franklin County doctor is facing criminal charges after police say he groped a Chambersburg Hospital employee in a staff elevator.

Tunde T. Tijani, 61, of Greencastle, is charged with two counts each of indecent assault and harassment, according to charging documents.

The criminal complaint states that Tijani in December followed the woman to the elevator and put his arms around her when the doors closed. She says pushed him away to let him know his advances were unwanted, but she says Tijani grabbed at her two more times and tried to kiss her on the lips.

The woman told police Tijani kissed her on the cheek when she turned her face. She said he laughed, then asked her when she was taking her lunch break and what time she was finished with work, the complaint states.

Tijani was charged by summons. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 22.

A Summit Health spokeswoman said Tijani is not an employee of Chambersburg Hospital or Summit Health System but an independent physician with medical staff privileges at the hospital.

She said the hospital’s medical staff is conducting its own investigation of the matter.
