Criminal charges have been filed against an Adams County woman accused of injuring her 2-month-old daughter.
Tasha Reidt, 23, of Gettysburg, confessed to shaking her daughter but told police that she didn’t think she caused any damage.
Reidt initially stated that the infant had fallen from a swing, according to a criminal complaint.
Doctors at Hershey Medical Center said the infant suffered 12 fractured ribs, a fractured wrist, retinal hemorrhaging and is at risk of developing a disability as a result of the abuse.
The injuries were first reported to authorities in 2013.
Reidt is now facing a felony count of aggravated assault. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison and fined up to $25,000. If convicted of a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child, Reidt could serve a maximum prison sentence of five years and be forced to pay $10,000 in fines.
Reidt is behind bars on $750,000 bail set by Judge Matthew Harvey.
A preliminary hearing is expect to be held on February 24.
Reidt has signed away parental rights to the infant, according to Adams County Children and Youth Services.
