School bus driver tried to smuggle heroin to jailed boyfriend, authorities say

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A school bus driver was charged with felony drug crimes after authorities said she tried to smuggle heroin to her jailed boyfriend at Lancaster County Prison.

Megan A. Salas, 35, of Lancaster, planned to pass the heroin and a banned withdrawal medication after completing her morning route on Feb. 4, according to the district attorney’s office.

Authorities said Salas parked the bus at the prison and went inside to register as a visitor. She then retrieved and concealed the substances and returned to the prison for the visit.

Detectives said they seized about half of a gram of heroin.

Salas is charged with four felonies. Her bail was set at $15,000.

Her boyfriend, 27-year-old Jose A. Valencia, is charged with three felonies. His bail on a prior, unrelated charge was $20,000. Arraignment on the new charges is pending.
