Fentanyl increasingly found in heroin-related deaths

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – York County Coroner Pam Gay says her office is increasingly finding the drug fentanyl in many toxicology tests after heroin-related deaths.

Fentanyl is a potent, synthetic opioid that is often mixed with heroin or other opiates. Sixteen of the last 25 confirmed York County heroin-related overdoses since September have involved fentanyl.

ABC27’s Samantha Galvez is looking into why there is such an increase. Look for updates online and on the air.
