HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Gov. Tom Wolf says he’ll help legislative candidates from either political party so long as they’re “reasonable” and “responsible.”
The Democrat, who’s locked in a partisan budget stalemate he blames on Republican majorities in both houses, made the comment Thursday while touring a Harrisburg business.
Asked whether he’ll try to recruit more Democrats, Wolf says he wants to help build the ranks of legislative candidates whom he regards as reasonable and responsible. He says many are Democrats but some are Republicans.
Wolf says he hasn’t decided whether his political committee would provide financial help to candidates who support his agenda but that he’ll do what he can help them.
Candidates seeking to get on the April 26 primary ballot must gather enough signatures during the three-week period that began Tuesday.
