Newspaper identifies 2 court justices who got bawdy emails

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A Philadelphia newspaper says two current state Supreme Court justices are among people within the state’s legal circles who received objectionable emails. The justices are the latest to be linked to a scandal that has led dozens of people to be fired or disciplined.

The Philadelphia Inquirer says in a story published Wednesday ( ) veteran Justice Max Baer received 10 such emails. It says newly sworn-in Justice Kevin Dougherty received three while he was Philadelphia’s top family court judge.Baer and Dougherty have declined to comment.

The emails they received are among those submitted as evidence in the case of suspended Justice Michael Eakin, who’s facing misconduct charges. The complaint against Eakin includes emails he sent and received. He has apologized.

Eakin is a Republican. Baer and Dougherty are Democrats.
