Harrisburg closes high school, Camp Curtin for heating problems

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Three city schools were closed Wednesday because of cold building temperatures.

The district closed John Harris High School, Camp Curtin Academy, and Capital Area Head Start at Camp Curtin.

The EXPLORE after-school program at the schools is canceled.

District teachers were to report to the library at their regularly scheduled time.

Students at the schools were dismissed early Tuesday. A district spokesperson said some of the classrooms didn’t warm up after the three-day weekend. Both buildings are undergoing an HVAC upgrade.

Students are expected to return to school on Thursday.

The closing affects only the high school and Camp Curtin buildings, not the entire district.
